Summer Nostalgia

Photobucket

This week has consisted of a constant plunge into Summer mental repose following an overwhelmingly hectic end of school year schedule (topped off with the ever-so-yearned-for high school graduation.) My heart has escalated at every appearance of the sun- some of which moments I have documented with the help of my beloved new gadget (and grad gift), the Iphone. Having only really two months left before I leave for school, I have been trying my best to soak up the details of home I know I will miss, including the picturesque vignettes right in the comfort of my back yard.

Dorm Decor

Photobucket
I stumbled on the cutest Burlington, VT travel guide the other day on designspongeonline.com; exciting!

Following a Dunkin' run with my friend today, I realized that in less than four months, I will be moving into my new home (or lack there of) at UVM. As a result of the both exhilarating and nerve-racking discernment, I decided to begin a cyber search for my dorm decor. Below are some of my findings that I can only hope will fit in my tiny dorm at school (my room at home is teeny itself, so I'm hoping my experience with 10' x 7' spaces will assist me.)

Feminine, Textured, and Nostalgic Bedding
Bedding from Anthropologie, pillows from Urban Outfitters.

The Urbanist’s Paris

Photobucket

After reading New York Magazine's Spring Travel 2011 article on Paris, I began to yearn for the Parisian city. I last visited Paris when I was in seventh grade, but my treasured memories of each cafe, museum, site of interest, shop and market place remain vivid and authentic. Here are some photos from weheartit.com associated with the idyllic city.

April in Manhatten

I love New York in the springtime. The cherry blossom trees add to the village's nostalgic appeal, the Central Park greenery turns the landscape into an attraction for people of all ages and types, and the gentle sunlight highlights the eclectic assembly of Manhattan pedestrians. I was lucky enough to experience a beautiful spring morning in NYC today after seeing Mike Birbiglia's My Girlfriend's Boyfriend last night at the Greenwich House Theater. In addition to meandering through Manhattan in April or May, I highly recommend seeing the show; it was both hysterical and sweet.

Spring Cleaning

Having recently cleaned out my closet (three bag-fulls of clothes are now waiting to be donated to Goodwill), I have been searching for some spring 2011 essentials to fill the empty space between the hangers. With the assistance of lookbook, I have pinpointed the trends I hope to adapt as the weather becomes increasingly sunny and warm. Enjoy the spring weather!

Lately, I've been taking comfort in my bed far too frequently than I should be; and the play-list below consists of some of the songs that perfectly accompany such lack-of-action. These lingering days of winter, consisting of slushy weather and constantly bitter cold temperatures despite the every-so-often and teasing appearance of the sun, don't help revitalize my motivation nor energy. I can only stay optimistic for an early Spring (which is doubtful due to the fact that my yard remains fully coated with snow*) and make the best of winter as the season ceases to change.
